Catholic Multi Academy Trust is launched

The newly-established St John the Baptist Catholic Multi Academy Trust has been launched at the start of the academic year with a celebration Mass at Notre Dame High School in Norwich, reports Flavio Vettese, Deputy Director of Schools’ Service.

Staff from all of the seven Norfolk and North Suffolk schools in the Multi Academy Trust joined together in celebrating Mass with Bishop Alan on September 1.

The Bishop warmly welcomed everybody and stated the importance and significance of the momentous day as the St John the Baptist Catholic Trust is the first Trust to be established within the Diocese of East Anglia. In the future, more schools will come together and be part of the developing Catholic MAT landscape.

After the celebratory Mass, colleagues took the opportunity to meet with one another over refreshments.

Professor Edward Acton (Former Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the University of East Anglia) Chair of Directors for SJB Trust, spoke to the group about the priorities and ethos behind the MAT. Brian Conway, CEO of the Trust, followed by giving a presentation on the structures and operational workings of the Trust.

The day continued with professional development opportunities for staff across all schools on a range of relevant and collaborative working practices.

Lunch, which was kindly supplied by Notre Dame High School Norwich, proved to be an excellent opportunity for everybody to chat and reflect on this wonderful occasion.

The day proved to perfectly mirror the motto for the Trust quoting Pope Francis ‘ “To think, to feel, to do”.
