A celebration of priesthood in East Anglia

A Celebration of Priesthood Mass and lunch took place at Our Lady of the Annunciation in Poringland and at the Bishop’s White House yesterday (June 13).

Around 40 priests from across the Diocese of East Anglia joined Bishop Alan on the Feast of Jesus Christ the Eternal High Priest.

Priests across the diocese celebrating jubilees of ordination this year include: Fr Anthony Shryane who marks 50 years of service; Fr Michael Vulliamy, Fr Laurie Locke and Fr Roger Spencer who all mark 40 years as priests; and Fr Bruce Burbidge, Fr Sean Connolly, Fr Edmund Eggleston and Fr Denys Lloyd all marking 25 years of service.

In his homily, Bishop Alan told the priests: “I want to take the opportunity to thank all of you, and especially those of you who are celebrating jubilees this year, for transforming the joys and the hopes, the visions and the dreams of the countless thousands of people you have served over the years.

“As we look to the future, let us remind ourselves that ours is a religion of hope as well as faith. We place all our trust and hope in the Lord.”
