Children celebrate First Communion at Lowestoft church

The Parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea in Lowestoft celebrated its First Holy Communion day on June 15, reports Kathy Fallon.

It was held at St Nicholas Church as renovations were being done at Our Lady’s.  The weather was good and a beautiful and uplifting day was had by all.  Sixteen children made their First Communions and one of the children will make his in August in Portugal with his extended family.

All the children did the readings, the bidding prayers and participated in the offertory.  Everyone had something to do and everyone did it brilliantly.

The children even did a signing of ‘My Lighthouse’.  The Catholic Women’s League gave the children a St Nicholas bookmark to mark their special day.  The children and their families were nervous and excited and everyone said it was a memorable day for the children.

We are looking forward to next year and sowing the seed in our next group of children.
