The Ignite Team

Who we are

The Ignite Team is the Youth Mission Team for the Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia and was established in 2014.

Ignite seeks to serve Jesus in the Church by sharing the Gospel with children and young people who live in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.  The team is available to work with parishes and schools and seeks to give them an authentic encounter with Christ and the teachings of his Catholic Church.

Full-time members of the team join for a year at a time and they are assisted by members of the Ignite Lite volunteer group who help out as and when they are available.

What we do

The Ignite Team travels around the Diocese supporting parishes in their ministry to young people by running retreats,

interactive sessions, youth Masses and other events for children and young people to encourage them in their faith. This includes visits to youth groups, Confirmation groups and First Holy Communion classes.

We also work in schools, both primary and secondary, whether they have a faith-based ethos or not, and run retreats, assemblies, RE or RS Classes and school missions.  All of these are designed to explore aspects of Catholic Christianity in a vibrant and informed way, using interactive presentations, music and personal testimony. All members of the team are practising Catholics with a passion for discussing their faith with others.

In addition, the Ignite Team run local events for young people as well as supporting the Director of the Youth Service in the running of Diocesan youth events, such as the Ignite Festival and the Candlelight Christmas Mass. The team also produce online content for young people on social media and on YouTube.

Join the Team!

Joining the Ignite Team can be a life-changing experience - living as a residential community, sharing the Gospel as well as developing new and transferable skills working with children and young people. Accommodation and food are provided along with a monthly allowance of £200. Team members commit for six months to a year at a time and have the chance to grow in their faith while developing their skills in music, drama, technology and more.
