School pupils gather in Norwich to celebrate Pentecost

Pentecost Sunday was celebrated in style across churches in the Diocese of East Anglia on June 4, marking the feast which celebrates the birthday of the early church.
It was red all over at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Lowestoft for Pentecost Sunday with parishioners wearing red and children being given red balloons. A full church celebrated the feast in international style with prayers in some of the 37 different nations represented in Lowestoft Catholic Church during Mass, followed by a feast of food from around the world, including lots of lots of cake… red of course.
A service of prayers and the world-famous Taiz chants marked the vigil of Pentecost in Chatteris. To celebrate the arrival of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Christians from March and Chatteris met in the parish church of Saints Peter and Paul in Chatteris, host for Catholic Mass every Sunday, to share an evening of prayer inspired by the music of Taiz.
People were invited to light a candle and pray through music and periods of silence. The community had been meeting all week between Ascension and Pentecost as part of the global wave of prayer Thy Kingdom Come. Thy Kingdom Come is aninternational prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to prayfor more people to come to know Jesus.
