CAFOD Team of 17 includes two members of staff from St Mary’s Primary School in Lowestoft and two members of staff from St Benedict’s School in Bury St Edmunds, who shared their story last year. You can view it here.
The fifth person from East Anglia is my daughter Josie, who took time out from training to answer a few questions about her challenge. She said: “The London Marathon 2024 is my first marathon. I wanted to do a marathon after gaining confidence from running a few half marathons over the last couple of years. I am really enjoying the training – the structure and holding myself accountable for exercising in the winter months has been beneficial for both my physical and mental health.
“Running in London means a great deal to me. I was born in London and now live there, and it’s where I do most of my training runs. I’ve also practised in Cambridge, along the route of the half marathon. It’s very exciting to be part of one of the biggest and best-known races in the world; friends and family are close by and can come and support me.
“Running for CAFOD means running for those who need support and funds the most. I grew up as a member of the Catholic Church and I have been aware of the great work CAFOD does at both local and international levels for a long time. I understand that CAFOD’s network can reach local people on the ground quickly and therefore the work the charity does is vital. I am proud to be part of Team CAFOD!”
