Hopeful Parish Mission at Our Lady & St Walstan

From 8 – 16 February, the parish of Our Lady & St Walstan in Costessey welcomed the Community of Our Lady of Walsingham for a week-long mission centred on the theme of hope, in line with the Jubilee Year.

The mission was led by the sisters from the community, based in Dereham, and provided an opportunity for spiritual renewal, prayer, and reflection.

Each day, parishioners gathered for Mass and adoration, followed by talks from the sisters. These were offered in both morning and evening sessions to allow as many people as possible to participate. The talks inspired lively discussions, with many attendees expressing how much they had gained from the experience.

A key part of the mission involved outreach to St Augustine’s Primary School, where the sisters spent two days engaging with the children. The week culminated in a Mass at the school on Friday morning, which was attended by many parishioners, strengthening the bonds between the parish and its young members.

To celebrate the conclusion of this grace-filled mission, the community gathered for a joyful bring-and-share lunch after Sunday Mass. With hearts uplifted, the parish is now considering ways to put into action the inspiration and insights gained during the mission. Follow-up meetings are planned, and it is hoped that the sisters will continue to accompany the parish on this journey of faith.
