Some of you may have visited my blog, or been to one of my Exploring Personal Prayer sessions, or the Retreat day I did just before Lent. If so, you might be familiar with me guiding a Lectio Divina or an Imaginative Contemplation prayer.
I was inspired by The Wednesday Word, which we received every week in my parish. I was also struck by a remark from someone who attended the Exploring Personal Prayer at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church in Poringland last time I presented it. They told me that it was all very well praying this way when there was someone there to guide them through, but they were unsure about how they would manage at home.
As a result, I now usually post on Wednesday a guided prayer on one of the scripture passages for the forthcoming Sunday. Recently, I have also been recording similar prayers which are being broadcast on Radio Maria England.
Rather than following the lectionary, I have chosen some of my favourite passages from scripture to pray with in these ways. On Friday morning I will be the guest on Songs in the Wilderness on Radio Maria, talking about my own personal journey and some of the music that moves my soul. If you are curious to know more, listen in. All the broadcasts are replayed again during the week.
You can tune into Radio Maria England here.
