A clandestine domestic Catholic chapel has been discovered in Barnham Broom Old Hall in Mid Norfolk, reveals the latest edition of Orientale Lumen from the East Anglian Catholic History Society.
The chapel, reported first in the Catholic Herald, was hitherto unidentified and would have been secretly used during the Elizabethan period when Catholics were routinely forced to dissemble or suffer for their faith.
