The occasion, on Saturday March 18, was a chance to come together at a social event and also raised nearly £500 for the parish.
Fr Pat Cleary, Parish Priest of Thetford, opened the event with words of thanks to the organisers and remarked: “This is a great occasion for the parish to come together, to celebrate together and to have a great deal of fun together.”
The night included six rounds of questions consisting of 10 questions in each round. Halfway through there was a break in proceedings so participants could enjoy a buffet. To add to the jovial atmosphere, the hall was decorated in Irish colours.
One parishioner remarked: “This is a thoroughly enjoyable evening. It’s great to see this happening again after so long. I hope that this continues and it would be good if something could be arranged in the summer and at the end of year.”
Not only was there a buffet, there was also a raffle with a vast array of prizes at the end of the quiz.
Deacon Justin Cross said: “This was my first quiz night at St Mary’s and I was amazed at the support that parishioners have shown for the event. I hope there’s more in the future.”
