Ways to connect with the Passion of Jesus this Easter

As we journey through Holy Week, a priest from Brentwood Diocese, and the Wintershall Passion players, are placing resources online to inspire our faith.

Fr Adrian Graffy, biblical scholar and parish priest of Gidea Park, has prepared a two-part talk on Matthew chapters 26 and 27, which were read on Palm Sunday, and which can feed our reflection throughout Holy Week.

Fr Adrian takes us through the narrative, pointing out the points particular to Matthew’s Gospel. To make the most of this preparation for Easter all you will need is the text of the Gospel. You can listen to his reflections on: https://www.dioceseofbrentwood.net/news/listen-matthews-story-passion-time-lockdown/

And on Good Friday this year the Wintershall Passion of Jesus, which is normally performed in Trafalgar Square, will be available online through Facebook.

The broadcast will include pre-recorded excerpts of rehearsals from the Wintershall Passion Play 2020 together with excerpts of Passion performances from the other cities and towns taking part in the One Good Friday 2020 project.

You can watch the play on Good Friday, April 10 at 12 noon and 3pm through the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Wintershallplay.

Filmed without an audience, the recording will also include interviews with cast members and testimonies from One Good Friday organisers about their Passion 2020 journey. The story section is one hour long, followed by a recording of Passion 2019 in Trafalgar Square.

After the livestream, the recording will be available on YouTube and the link will be found on this page: https://www.wintershall.org.uk/passion-jesus-london under Media Gallery at the bottom of the page.

Wintershall is committed to returning to Trafalgar Square with the Passion of Jesus play on April 2 2021 and many of the One Good Friday locations have already committed to do the same in their own towns and cities on the same day.
